RSVP: Next Generation Research SuperVision Project

Brand identity development

The Next Generation Research SuperVision Project (RSVP) is a transformative project that aims to make an impact on the culture of doctoral supervision. Led by the University of York, the project will involve contributions from over 20 universities, as well as other major industry stakeholders including the BBC, Unilever and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

We were approached by the RSVP with an exciting brief: To create a modern, vibrant yet professional looking identity which would be illustrative of the change they hope to make. Alongside this, it needed to be distinctive enough to make it easily recognisable in the research project landscape, and set them apart from others in the field.

A bold, modern and professional approach

Each element of the identity needed to be carefully considered. For the colour palette, we took a typically corporate dark blue and disrupted it with vibrant splashes of colour, including a bright yellow which became a distinctive feature of the project. We opted for a clean, accessible typeface with a playful and modern feel, complementing the colour palette. Framing devices were implemented to draw attention to important text elements throughout their digital resources. The result: A clean, bold and vibrant identity with elements which both set it apart and make it easily recognisable.
